PEOPLE – Innovation for Societal Change will end by December 2011. A Final Conference called PEOPLE Talks will take place in Brussels the 10th of November to disseminate the main outcomes gained over the past 3 years.

PEOPLE Top Policy Recommendations

The PEOPLE project has recently set up a new group at the PEOPLE Policy Forum, the Top Policy Recommendations Group.
This new group is related to the PEOPLE & Sub-projects' activities over the last 3 years. It aims to gather regional experts to debate on the policy recommendations applied to the innovation for societal change, linked to 6 Sub-objectives impacting the demographic changes in Europe.

Malopolska White Paper on the Silver Economy

The Malopolska regional partners of the PEOPLE project are pleased to announce that the Malopolska white paper on silver economy, prepared under the PEOPLE project, has been translated into English.
The paper, entitled “Challenges of Malopolska in the Context of an Ageing Population”, provides a strategic approach to the issue of demographic changes and ageing society.

Feedback on the PEOPLE International Conference held in Stockholm on 15 Septermber 2011 – by UK regional expert Nick Wilson
As the author of the specification for the PEOPLE Silver Economy theme, I had previously made a short presentation at the launch of the PEOPLE programme in Seville. So I was very pleased to be invited to speak again at this conference in the lead-up to the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations 2012.

Highlight on SO3 Best Practice - Shape Your Future

The 'Shape Your Future: opportunities for self-employment' project was delivered in South East England. It was funded by the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) and led by Business Support Kent which runs business support programmes. The project focus reflected Business Support Kent’s experience that, while self-employment can be a good route back to work for unemployed older workers, it is often not one that they themselves will choose and was not a route being promoted at that time by the public employment service, Jobcentre Plus. The project has demonstrated that self-employment can be a good route back into work for a substantial proportion of unemployed people, even in an area of high unemployment and low aspirations, with potentially substantial down-stream benefits for the local economy.
